Hong Gao has extensive experience in printing, web/graphic design, and art education. She likes to work in different platforms.
Born in an artist family, Hong started to her scribbles of animals, pets, fishes, birds, flowers and nature at early age. She said: "When I was a kid, my favorite time of day was to draw and paint. As I got older, this love never faded and eventually I went to college to study art and got my Master degree."
With years of working experience in Graphic Design/Web Design field and more than ten years in teaching Studio Art of her own business, Hong experienced working as collaborating in teams to deliver visual interface, layout, designs, banner, email marketing, as well as independently teaching classes of drawing/painting skills, techniques, color theory, and design principles for children. Through those years, she developed strong critical thinking, trouble shooting, time management, and detail oriented observation skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Hong Gao teaches many different mediums, such as pencil, charcoal, acrylics, watercolor, oil paintings and pastels. She believes that working in a single medium is restrictive to people's artistic process. Each idea manifests in its own individual style.
Hong enjoys outdoor photography, hiking and travel in her spare time and many of her pieces are directly influenced by these landscapes, flowers and figures in nature. She loves recreating plants, fruits, mountains and seascapes in her work.
